Tottenham head coach: “Without Kane, Son Heung-min was the most important player”

Tottenham Hotspur head coach Christian Stellini (49) talked about Son Heung-min (31, Tottenham)’s brilliant performance.

Tottenham Hotspur won 3-0 against Preston North End in the 2022-2023 season FA Cup round of 32 held at Deepdale Stadium in Preston, England on the 29th at 3:00 am (Korean time) and succeeded in advancing to the round of 16.

Tottenham finished the first half 0-0 in this match, but Son Heung-min’s powerful mid-range shot took the lead in the 5th minute of the second half. Son Heung-min, who had tasted the goal after a long time, shook the net once again in the 24th minute of the second half with a sensational pass from Ivan Perisic. Afterwards, Tottenham won 3-0 with an additional goal by Arnaut Danjuma in the 42nd minute of the second half.

After the game, England’s ‘Football London’ reported the press conference of Tottenham head coach Christian Stellini (49). Coach Stellity talked about Son Heung-min’s performance.

When asked if Son Heung-min’s multiple goals would affect his confidence, coach Stellini replied, “Yes. Son Heung-min is the best player. He has been waiting for the right moment and found space to attack. It was a good game for him.” 스포츠토토

Son Heung-min’s ‘partner’ Harry Kane did not play in this match. In response, Stellini said, “I think the situation without Kane gave Son Heung-min an extra sense of responsibility. We were able to get this feeling from Sonny, and he was the most important striker for us in the absence of Kane.”

He added: “We didn’t have Perisic and Son Heung-min in a perfect position, so it was important for Son to find a way to score and let the team win.”

Tottenham signed striker Arnaut Danjuma on loan on the 26th. After the game, a question arose as to whether the signing of Danjuma had stimulated Son Heung-min. In response, Stellini avoided a direct answer, saying, “Danzuma’s goal is a good start. We look forward to working with him and Danzuma can play a variety of roles in the front line.”

Meanwhile, prior to this game, many British media predicted that Richarlison would start instead of Son Heung-min. However, in this match, Richarlison was not listed on the replacement list as well as the starting list.

In response, coach Stellini explained, “I’ve had a little problem the past few days. I’ll be back on the pitch next week. It’s something other than a hamstring injury. I’ve had a minor problem with my adductor muscle. It’s nothing special.”
