Yoan Duran (25, Minnesota Twins), who recently made waves with a 104 mph fastball, unleashed a 100 mph splitter.
Minnesota hosted the Houston Astros on April 30 at Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas, USA.
Duran took the mound in the bottom of the ninth inning of a 5-5 tie and pitched two innings of extra innings, throwing 29 pitches (21 for strikes), allowing one hit and striking out three.
Minnesota scored two runs in the bottom of the 10th in extra innings behind Duran’s stunning no-hitter to pull out a 7-5 come-from-behind victory.
Duran threw his four-seam fastball up to 103.6 mph (166.7 km/h) and his splitter up to 99.8 mph (160.6 km/h) on the day, and his curveball topped out at 89.2 mph (144 km/h).
Most surprising was the splitter’s velocity. It topped out at 99.8 mph and bottomed out at 98.0 mph, meaning the splitter reached a low of 157.7 mph.

Minnesota blew a 4-1 lead in the seventh inning to Jose Altuve, but tied the game in the ninth on a dramatic RBI single by Royce Lewis.
Minnesota then tied the game in the bottom of the 10th on a Ryan Jeffers two-run homer in extra innings before Duran shut down the Houston bats with a perfect 10th inning to secure the two-run victory.
Duran earned his first win of the season (1-1) and lowered his season ERA to 1.27. Houston’s Brian Abreu, who took the loss, suffered his first loss of the season.
