KT Wiz’s Kim Sang-soo (33) swings for the fences.
KT won 4-1 against the Samsung Lions of the 2023 Shinhan Bank Solar KBO League at Samsung Lions Park in Daegu on Saturday. With its third straight win, KT improved to 15 wins, two draws and 26 losses, tied for ninth place with Hanwha.
In the top of the first inning, KT’s Kim Sang-soo stepped to the plate with one out. What followed was a beautiful sight. The opposing Samsung fans greeted him with a standing ovation, and Kim Sang-soo bowed his head at a 90-degree angle.
Both sides had good reason to do so. Kim Sang-soo was a franchise star who had dedicated himself to Samsung from the time he joined the organization in 2009 until 2022. He helped build the Samsung dynasty and was an idol favorite.
As a secondary free agent in the Stobrig, Kim Sang-soo’s departure to KT meant that he would be switching jerseys for the first time in his career. This was the first time he visited Lions Park in a different team’s uniform. The hospitality of the fans and the courtesy of Kim Sang-soo came as no surprise.
Of course, Kim went back to being a cool-headed competitor. In the top of the fifth inning, with runners on first and third, Kim hit a clean single up the middle. It proved to be the game-winning hit and gave KT the win. The greeting between Kim Sang-soo and the Samsung fans was emotional, but the game was also a reminder that the blue heart of Samsung is now a member of the Wizards.먹튀검증
Kim Sang-soo has been on a roll for KT as well as Samsung. Last week alone, he went 8-for-18 with a whopping .444 batting average to lead the KT lineup. He’s been hitting well this week as well, and even had a game-winning hit today. Defensively, he’s been a stalwart of the KT infield, even if he’s not quite as good as he was in his prime.
With Kim Sang-soo at the helm, KT has slowly rebounded and moved out of last place. They’re still far from being a force to be reckoned with, but if they can keep this up, they could have a chance.
