Suwon avoids ‘four-game losing streak’ with 0-0 draw with Incheon…3 points behind 11th-placed Gangwon

Suwon Samsung narrowly escaped a four-game losing streak.

Suwon played out a goalless 0-0 draw against Incheon United in the 18th round of the Hana OneQ K League 1 2023 at Suwon World Cup Stadium on Nov. 11. Suwon (9 points), which escaped a four-game losing streak, closed the gap on 11th-placed Gangwon FC (12 points). Meanwhile, Incheon (P20) extended their unbeaten run to six games (W1 D5 L5), but once again failed to win.

Suwon slightly outplayed Incheon in terms of ball possession, but failed to create any meaningful chances. Ahn Byung-joon was often isolated and Acosti played more centrally than on the flanks. However, Suwon did not have a single shot on target in the first half.

Conversely, Incheon harassed the Suwon defense with strong forward pressure. Instead of dropping back, Incheon’s defense moved up the line and put up a fight. The foreign attacking trio of Hernandez, Mpoku, and Jerso created chances with organized movement.

One such chance came in the 22nd minute. Hernandez picked up a misplaced pass from Han Ho-gang. He played it to Mpoku, who connected with Lee Myung-joo’s left-footed shot, but it went just wide of the goal. In the 36th minute, Kang Yoon-koo’s sharp cross from the left flank failed to reach the feet of Gerso. A minute later, Kim Do-hyuk’s left-footed mid-range shot was saved by Suwon goalkeeper Yang Hyung-mo.먹튀검증

Suwon brought on goalkeeper Ahn Chan-ki, defender Jang Ho-ik, and midfielder Yoo Je-ho at the start of the second half, but they were unable to create any clear-cut chances. Incheon added Kim Bo-seop and Jung Dong-yoon in the 25th minute. In the 34th minute, Gerso’s left-footed mid-range shot hit the crossbar. Two minutes later, Jerso’s left-footed shot after receiving a pass from Kim Bo-seob went wide.

Incheon brought on Kim Dae-jung for Kim Jun-yup in the 39th minute to add more height. Suwon had a chance in the 41st minute when Ahn Byung-joon headed in a cross from Jung Seung-won, but was denied by the physical defense of Incheon defender Kim Dong-min. Suwon brought on Boultuis and Son Ho-jun in stoppage time. From a corner kick, Park Dae-won’s shot was saved by Incheon goalkeeper Kim Dong-heon-son. Incheon received a red card when Kim Dong-min tackled Go Seung-bum. In the end, however, the two teams were unable to score and shared a point.
