Four runs in the fifth inning put Samsung Lions pitcher Won Tae-in in a tough spot.
Won Tae-in made his fourth start of the season against the Lotte Giants of the 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League at Samsung Lions Park in Daegu on September 9, giving up four runs (one earned) on eight hits in five innings with three walks and three strikeouts.
It wasn’t a bad start. Won put runners on second and third in the top of the first on a single by Jeon Jun-woo and a walk by Zach Rex, but he got Yoon Dong-hee to fly out to center field to end the inning.
After a scoreless second and third inning, Won Tae-in induced a groundout to Kim Min-soo with the bases loaded in the top of the fourth.
However, Won’s steadfastness was short-lived. In the top of the fifth inning, after singles by Kim Min-seok and Jeon Jun-woo, shortstop Lee Jae-hyun missed a routine grounder by Ahn Chi-hong, leaving the bases loaded.
After giving up an RBI single to Rex, Won faltered sharply when the next batter, Yoon Dong-hee, was hit by a pitch. He got Yoon to fly out to the second baseman to give him some breathing room, but then gave up a two-run double to Ko Seung-min at second and third.
Meanwhile, Won Tae-in, who threw 46 pitches in the fifth inning alone, surpassed the 100-pitch mark, and Samsung sent Woo Kyu-min to the mound in the top of the sixth.먹튀검증
On the day, Won threw 104 pitches, marking his fourth straight game with more than 100 pitches. He threw the most fastballs (46), followed by a changeup (25), slider (17), cut fastball (14), curveball and forkball (one more). His fastball topped out at 150 km/h.
With Samsung trailing 1-5 in the seventh inning, Won will take his fourth loss of the season if the team loses this one.
