Seodaemun-gu Office in Seoul decided to establish a women’s basketball team in March and recruited Park Chan-sook, senior vice president of the Korea Unemployed Basketball Federation, as head coach. Vice Chairman Park is a leading figure in the Korean basketball world as well as a leading figure in winning the silver medal in women’s basketball at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics, Korea’s first Olympic silver medal in a ball game.
Seodaemun-gu announced on the 31st that it had appointed Vice President Park as the basketball team’s manager prior to the founding of the women’s basketball team in the workplace sports department in March. Lee Seong-heon, head of Seodaemun-gu Office, presented Vice-Chairman Park with the letter of appointment as the first manager of the Seodaemun-gu women’s basketball team in the office of the district chief this morning.

It plans to complete the composition of the team in February and hold an official inauguration ceremony in March. After the foundation, the women’s business basketball team will compete in the game. Seodaemun-gu Office is the 5th women’s business basketball team in Korea after Gimcheon City Hall, Sacheon City Hall, Daegu City Sports Association, and Seoul Basketball Association.
Coach Park said, “I am happy to be appointed as the first coach of the women’s basketball team in Seodaemun-gu, but I feel a great sense of responsibility.”
