NC-KIA, Janggun Menggun draw

NC, with foreign ace Eric Peddy’s formidable pitching, and KIA, which showed concentration at the end of the game, could not decide the game.

KIA and NC drew 4-4 in the ‘2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League Demonstration Match’ held at Gwangju-Kia Champions Field on the 25th. KIA recorded 4 wins, 4 losses and 2 draws in the demonstration game, and NC recorded 3 wins, 5 losses and 2 draws.

NC starter Eric Peddy’s pitching stood out. Peddy, one of the new foreign pitchers attracting the most attention in the league this year, threw 72 pitches in 5⅔ innings that day, showing off one hit, no four pitches, six strikeouts, and no runs, virtually confirming his start for the opening game. In the other lineup, Park Min-woo, who took the leadoff, recorded two hits, and Park Se-hyeok, Kim Joo-won, and Kim Seong-wook harvested one RBI.

KIA starter Yang Hyeon-jong threw 80 balls in 4 innings, scoring 5 hits, 2 walks, 6 strikeouts and 3 runs. Kim Ki-hoon (2 innings) and Kim Dae-yu (1 inning), who followed, did not concede and endured well, and the other line responded later. KIA, tied tightly to Peddy, made up for one point with Kim Do-young’s timely double in the 6th inning, and Park Chan-ho broke the mood with two runs to tie the game.

From the first episode, when Yang Hyeon-jong’s body seemed less relaxed, NC took the lead. NC, who narrowed the distance from the home at once by hitting a triple from leader Park Min-woo to the left center, scored a point by hitting a timely double from Park Se-hyeok running down the right field. In the second inning, one point was added when Park Min-woo hit a heavy hit after two outs from the chance to first and second base, which was gained by a right-handed hit by leader Seok-min Park and a walk by Young-soo Oh.

After two outs in the 4th inning with a 2-0 lead, NC Kim Seong-wook walked, and Kim Joo-won hit a double that fell to the side of the third baseman, adding one more point.

In the KIA, Park Chan-ho walked after the pedi went down in the 6th inning, and while right fielder Kim Seong-wook could not catch Kim Do-young’s batted ball that went to the right fence, KIA made up one point.

In the 7th inning, leader Kim Sun-bin chose to walk, and when Socrates grounded to 1st base, 1st baseman Oh Young-soo’s throw to 2nd base leaked to the side, and both the batter and the runners made it to the 1st and 2nd bases. Byun Woo-hyuk’s at-bat came out with a wild pitch, and runners advanced, and Byun Woo-hyuk’s shortstop grounded one more point. However, it was regrettable that we could not tie the score at the 1st and 2nd base that followed.스포츠토토

Then, after two outs in the 8th inning, Oh Young-soo hit a heavy hit and went out, and Kim Seong-wook hit a double at the right time that exceeded the height of the left fielder in the second base created by a balk when the runner-up Oh Tae-yang stole.

However, KIA tied the score with a single shot in the 8th inning. Leading pinch hitter Kim Kyu-seong got on base with a hit ball, followed by Park Chan-ho pulling Kim Si-hoon’s fastball to tie the score with two runs.

In the KIA, Jung Hae-young, who finished the ninth inning, prevented NC from scoring additional points, but KIA also failed to score against NC closer Lee Yong-chan, who came out in the ninth inning, and the game ended in a 4-4 draw. Despite the chilly weather at the Gwangju-Kia Champions Field that day, 5,232 fans filled the stands, creating a heated atmosphere that was not like an exhibition game.
