Catcher Park Dong-won, who signed a four-year, 6.5 billion won ($4.5 million) contract with LG in November last year, has performed flawlessly in his first year with the club.
In 77 games, he finished the first half of the year with a batting average of 2.772 (69-for-254), 15 home runs, 52 RBIs, 38 runs scored, and an OPS of 0.871. His nine home runs in the month of May in particular ignited the home run race. He also played the most innings (601⅓) of any catcher in the league.

He said it was unfortunate that he committed the game-winning blast with runners on first and third in the bottom of the ninth inning in a 5-5 tie against Hanwha in Daejeon last month. “If it wasn’t for that, I would have given myself a 100 out of 100, but it’s too bad,” he said, adding, “I’ll do my best to make up the two points in the second half.”
