Detroit tosses combined no-hitter against Toronto Rays – 320th career no-hitter

The Detroit Tigers pitched a combined no-hitter against the hard-hitting Toronto Blue Jays.

Tigers starter Matt Manning (6.2 innings), reliever Jayson Polley (1.1) and closer Alex Rangel (1.0) combined for a no-hitter and a 2-0 victory over Toronto on Monday at Comerica Park in Detroit.

Manning, the starting right-hander, struck out five with three walks, while Foley and Ranzi combined for a one-hit shutout. Toronto All-Star Kevin Gausman took the loss (7-5) after allowing two runs on five hits and two walks with seven strikeouts in six innings.토스카지노

There have been 320 career MLB no-hitters, 20 of which have been combined. Detroit hasn’t had a no-hitter in 13 years, since Justin Verlander (now with the New York Mets) tossed a 4-0 no-hitter against the Milwaukee Brewers on June 13, 2007.

There have been two MLB no-hitters this season, including the New York Yankees’ Domingo Herman’s 11-0 perfect game against the Oakland A’s on May 29 and Detroit’s combined no-hitter.

Cycling hits by batters, which are often compared to no-hitters by pitchers, have been accomplished by four players this year: Miami Marlins second baseman Luis Arajuez, Baltimore Orioles outfielder Cedric Mullins, Philadelphia Phillies catcher JT Realmuto, and Cincinnati Reds rookie infielder Eli De La Cruz.

In the all-time record books, cycling hits totaled 343 – 23 more than the 320 no-hitters.

In the KBO, there have been 17 no-hitters, including Park Dong-hee’s no-hitter and two collaborations, but 29 cycling hits, again more than the pitcher’s record.
