Cleveland’s Minor Team Picks First Female Hitting Leader

Reporter Lee Myeong-dong = A female former softball player was appointed as the batting leader for a minor league club under the Cleveland Guardians of the United States. She left her name as the first female field coach in team history.

The Associated Press reported on the 7th that Amanda Kamekona (36), a famous softball player at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), was hired as the minor league hitting coach of the Cleveland Guardians.

Kamekona plays with her squad in Goodyear, Arizona, USA. Kamekona’s hiring is expected to continue the trend of hiring female coaches in Major League Baseball (MLB). The club has hired women for mental management before, but this is the first time a woman has coached a player on the field.

Kamekona helped the college to a 96-20 record over two seasons beginning in 2008 at UCLA. In 2008, Kamekona led the university in overall offense as she hit 17 doubles, 14 home runs, and had 46 RBIs and 47 runs scored. Her collegiate record of eight RBIs in a single game, set by Kamekona, remains unbroken.

Coming out of college, Camekona played in the American Women’s Softball League, where she coached at Limestone University and Brevard University. She recently took a coaching job at a high school in California.

With the recent increase in female field participation in the Major League Baseball (MLB), the increase in female coach recruitment is expected to continue with the employment of Kamekona.

Last season, Rachel Volkovec managed the Tampa Tarpons, a minor league single-A team affiliated with the New York Yankees. Volkovec was previously acclaimed as a hitting coach in the Yankees’ minor leagues and rose to the command tower. 온라인카지노

In January of last year, the minor league club affiliated with the Toronto Blue Jays also hired Jamie Vieira as their minor league hitting coach. At this time, Vieira became the first female official coach in Toronto club history.

Alyssa Naken, who was appointed coach of the San Francisco Giants in January 2020, coached the first baseman in the game, becoming the first female coach to play in a regular season game.
